Riverchase Elementary Receives Book Vending Machine From The CFBISD Educational Foundation

RIVERCHASE ELEMENTARY RECEIVES BOOK VENDING MACHINE FROM THE CFBISD EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION

Since August, a mysterious black box in the main hallway has teased the Riverchase Elementary community. The surprise was finally revealed this morning, September 25 in a moving ceremony. With a donation from Al and Pat Enlow, the CFBISD Educational Foundation gifted Riverchase a book vending machine, making us the first campus on the west side of the district to receive such a gift.

Victor Johnson, the foundation’s director, emceed the event. Foundation board members Karen Dower, Hester Moore, and Laura Stephenson Vola joined him in congratulating Riverchase. State Representative Cassandra Hernandez, Coppell City Council Member Biju Matthew, CFBISD School Board Member Kim Brady, Area Director of School Leadership Francisco Miranda, Jr. each addressed the crowd and emphasized the importance of reading.

Riverchase honored several students with Perfect Attendance for the month of September: Bryan Gonzalez, Karolina Leyva Nogueras, Isabella Garcia Moreno, Zayan Syed, Kalvin Mitchell, Asal Alkassar, and Sophie Bell. These students used the machine for the first time, demonstrating the joy it brings to the crowd. Along with the machine, the Enlows also gifted Riverchase $2,000 to provide students with books throughout the year.

As Principal LaTonda Cherry explains, this gift will have a major impact on our school community: “Every time a student receives a book from this machine, they are receiving something they can take home, share with their family, read again and again, and ultimately keep as their own.”
