Hello and welcome to Riverchase Elementary! 

My name is LaTonda Cherry and I am honored to serve as the principal of Riverchase Elementary. I am excited to continue serving a community who is dedicated to academic excellence through nurturing the young minds of our Eagles.

 Our school has a rich tradition of fostering a love for learning, encouraging creativity, and building character. As we continue to build on that strong foundation, we as a dedicated community of teachers, emphasize innovation, inclusivity, and a collaborative spirit. Ever student here is unique and we will provide a supportive environment where our students can thrive and reach their full potential. Education is a partnership between the school, students, parents, and the wider community and together, we can create an environment where students feel safe, valued, and inspired to pursue their passions.

 A little bit about me; I was born and raised in Plainview, TX. I attended Angelo State University, where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Child Development and Learning. I also hold a Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in English Language Development and Reading from Concordia University - Portland, Oregon. I earned my principal certification from the University of Texas at Arlington.

 I started my teaching career at Steubing Ranch Elementary (North East ISD) in San Antonio, TX in 2005. In 2012, my family & I relocated to the Dallas-Fort Worth area and I joined Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD as a first grade teacher at Tom Landry Elementary. Prior to becoming a principal, I was a classroom teacher at Landry, a reading recovery specialist at McLaughlin-Strickland, and an early literacy instructional coach at McKamy and Riverchase. I was also privileged to serve as assistant principal at Riverchase. 

 My husband, Edward, and I have been married since 2007 and we have two children, Reagan and Trendon. We are a big sports family so we love cheering our children on as they compete in high school and middle school sports.
